Each “facet” of the home reflects a different influence — from Peranakan heritage touches to sleek modern edges and calming Scandi tones. The home belongs to a couple with two young children and their live-in helper, and it called for more than just a facelift. At nearly 40 years old, the unit’s original layout was tight, dated, and didn’t suit the family’s day-to-day life. Every corner was rethought to support the family’s lifestyle, from daily routines to moments of relaxation.
Stepping into the balcony, the patterned Peranakan tiles bring an instant lift, weaving heritage and charm into the space. Walking inside, the kitchen greets you with a fresh burst of colour. Deep blue cabinetry with tactile fluted panels and a textured kit-kat backsplash make the space feel open, airy, and inviting. Beside the kitchen, a white-walled room was planned specifically for the helper, providing privacy while keeping her close to the family’s daily routine. Placed next to the kitchen, the dining space is perfect for everyday meals or casual get-togethers. Its open positioning keeps the conversation flowing between the kitchen and living areas.
The living area itself has been expanded by incorporating the second balcony, offering a spacious, flexible zone for play, relaxation, and connection. Thoughtful furnishings and soft textures layer the space with warmth and personality, while subtle lighting enhances the comforting, inviting mood.
Upstairs, the bedrooms are quiet retreats. The master suite uses soft, creamy tones and clean lines. Even the bathrooms are designed with care. Both the common and master bathrooms were completely hacked and reconfigured to ensure equal space for each. A consistent foundation of grey tiles and raw wood-look laminate vanities creates a cohesive sense of calm, while the feature walls bring individuality to each space. In the master, rich burnt orange subway tiles run from ceiling to floor, forming a bold focal point in the shower. In the common bathroom, dark green subway tiles take centre stage, adding a rich contrast that makes the space just as striking.
