The homeowner, a cycling enthusiast and plant lover, wanted a home that reflected his lifestyle. A bespoke solid-wood sofa lines the walkway, creating a gentle transition through the living area, while the dining area takes center stage by the window, bathing in light and framing the view outside. The living space is deliberately TV-free, encouraging calm, connection, and the enjoyment of the space itself.
Media is enjoyed in the bedroom, where a clever panel near the dining area conceals a hidden door, seamlessly integrating access to the bedroom while maintaining the flow and calm of the space. The wardrobe was designed with a fabric-like finish, a refined alternative after initially exploring rattan, adding subtle texture without overwhelming the clean Japandi lines. Original herringbone parquet flooring was carefully sanded and polished, preserving its natural charm while harmonising with the home’s mid-tone wood palette.
The kitchen continues the soothing warmth with EDL Compact panels in a wood look, used both on cabinetry and the ledge to create seamless alignment between backsplash and countertop. Subtle touches of green reflect the homeowner’s love for the hue, while open shelves add personality without clutter, and a full-height cabinet conceals the washing machine, cleaning essentials, and a collection of foldable bicycles. Opposite the sink, a cluster of pipes was hidden behind a partition that doubles as a niche with a wooden ledge, transforming a necessary but awkward feature into a charming detail.
Opposite the sink, a cluster of unsightly pipes was concealed behind a partition, but rather than leaving the space as a full, blank wall, it was transformed into a niche. Topped with a wooden ledge, it now provides another spot to add personality to the space, turning a plain wall into a charming feature.
Here, practical solutions coexist with warmth and character, creating a home that is as functional as it is inviting.
