There is something rare about a home that carries both memory and intention. The homeowner grew up in this very block, returning decades later not just out of familiarity, but drawn by the neighbourhood's transformation.

At approximately 130 sqm, the flat was redesigned with a modern luxe, contemporary approach. Soft, calming tones and layered lighting establish a sense of serenity throughout, while thoughtful spatial planning ensures the home flows naturally with daily life.

Arrival is given its own moment. A full-height cabinet at the entrance creates a deliberate sense of transition, one side functioning as a foyer with shoe storage, the other concealing the fridge and wine chiller as the space opens into the kitchen. The extended kitchen leads to a movable island that doubles as a dining table, tucking away when not in use and drawing guests in when it is. Anchoring the dining area is one of the home’s most quietly compelling details: a panel of tiles the homeowners had been drawn to during the selection process, framed and mounted on the wall until it reads entirely as a painting.

Restraint defines the living areas. A minimal TV feature wall gives way to an L-shaped ceiling detail with gently curved edges, introducing soft ambient light while echoing the rounded language found throughout the home. Off the living area, a study offers a quieter rhythm, its sliding lattice door filtering light without closing the space off entirely, and an arched niche displaying a well-travelled shelf collection while quietly concealing the aircon piping behind it.

Deeper into the home, both bedrooms share the same calm, unhurried mood. The master is anchored by a taupe limewash bedhead wall and round cove lighting. The second bedroom follows a similar language, its rounded ceiling details and warm tones making it equally restful, doubling as a space for morning stretches and quiet moments. The extended master bathroom, accessible from both the bedroom and hallway, feels like a retreat of its own, with terrazzo shower surfaces and a serene palette that invites stillness.

Every curve, every concealed pipe, every fall of light was considered. This is a home that honours its past, and has been thoughtfully made for whatever comes next.

“Kate was responsive to our numerous requests for updates and queries during the renovation period and took in our suggestions for some changes to the ID design positively.  The place was spacious and the workmanship on the carpentry, electrical and masonry works were good.”
